Second Region

Sets up the Australian Association of Co-operatives Ltd, (henceforth the Association), which promotes the development of the Australian cooperative sector for the social and economic benefit of member cooperatives. Entitles the Association to educate and inform members of the government of selected organisations about cooperatives, to improve the awareness and understanding of the extent and significance of cooperatives among the general public, to promote education and training to members of cooperatives, to assist and advice members in all industrial matters, to foster liaison with international cooperative organisations, and to provide members with commercial services. Regulates the powers of the Association: for example, it advises on the appointment of personnel of cooperatives, it operates a central account in which members may deposit funds from which loans may be granted to members. Other provisions cover membership, shares and annual subscription, investment of funds, annual general meetings, the National Board of Directors, State division and Committees, by-laws, accounts, appointment and employees, insurance, banking, audit, application of funds and winding up.
