The Ministry of Labour has banned expatriates from being employed in 207 professions in the Sultanate as part of its ongoing efforts to boost Omanisation .

The new ban covers expatiate directors of human resources, recruitment, personnel, public relations, student affairs and filling stations; deputy, general and assistant general directors; as well as training, security, transport and store supervisors. Also banned are administrative, CEO office, employment, career guidance, follow‑up, HR and recruitment managers; flight operations and oil and gas occupational safety inspectors; plus legal, customs, tourist reservation, ticket, shipping services, and car rental clerks.

HR and systems analysis technicians; drivers of public cars, buses, trucks and ambulances; as well as librarians, travel ticket officers and delivery agents, and security guards are also excluded. Psychology or social specialists, payroll and wage accountants, PR writers, tour guides and insurance specialists, plus insurance and customs clearance brokers, salesmen in commercial complexes, grocers, and vegetable, fruit and sweets sellers are other designations banned from the sultanate.
